John Charles Murphy circa 1946 – Father – War Hero – Received the Navy Bar for being shot down during World War II flying off the USS Enterprise on the first “black-out” night missions over Japan, adrift in the Pacific Ocean, rescued by my Uncle Bill’s Uncle. Tool and Die Maker, self-made Engineer (as with all Murphy’s), inventor – “Happy Apple”, “Hoppy Frog”, “Weeble’s” (Wobble but they won’t fall down)… Professional Pool Player, Piano Player, Genous mathematician. My Dad!
